On Friday, November 3rd, Ladywood High School defeated Divine Child in three games to win the MHSAA District Title!
Ladywood drew a bye and advanced right to the semifinals on Wednesday where they faced Henry Ford Academy. The Blazers defeated HCA in three games with scores of 25-4, 25-9, and 25-12. It was an all-around team effort as several players contributed to the victories. Our front line was unstoppable as Junior Madeline Hudson led with nine kills, Madison Benoit and Mikayla Kuphal with four each, and Brianna Wallace with three. Monique Lamoureux set everyone up with 14 assists.
In the regular season, Ladywood defeated Divine Child in five games, so the Blazers prepared for an intense match-up for the district final game. For the first two sets, the Blazers and Falcons rallied and remained with 2 points of one another. The Blazers came out on top in the first set with a score of 25-21. Early in the second set, it was again back and forth. Senior Reese Moschetta’s serves helped Ladywood gain the lead at the end and an ace ended the second set, Blazers 25 and Falcons 18. Ladywood finished the third set with ease and were named District Champions.
Ladywood will play on Tuesday, November 7th at Jonesville High School in the first round of Regionals at 6:45. They will play Onsted High School. Winner will advance to Thursday, November 9th at 6:00pm and play the winner of Chelsea High School and Airport.
